today ended up not filming the woman i met with, because i didn’t have my mic with me and didn’t want to waste chance with good interviewee without the right equipment. had met up with her anyhow, and audio recorded bits of our conversation, which i think was very nice and will be very interesting for you two as well. this will be posted later tonight or tomorrow for you!
anyhow, as far as this test, we went through all of the interview questions, though there wasn’t enough space on my computer to capture all the footage. wanted to include some for you here, anyhow, so that we can still be thinking about the content of the questions and the kinds of replies we will get. about the quality of the light, i had adjusted the white balance maybe just a tad too much so it seem a bit too bright, perhaps, but brighter seems a better alternative anyhow. the shadow is questionable but doesn’t bother me too much. and fotini had some comments about the interview, which i will include for you here:
– it’s nice that the questions seem focused, and maybe you already know exactly how you will use them, but they all seem to be going in the same direction, not allowing for interesting unpredictable things to come up..
– it could be interesting to add some more concrete questions, both because it’s probably easier to reply to those, and also because you may get interesting things back as replies… (eg, relation to specific objects, etc.)
– i think the interview could be a bit longer anyway and that would allow for more warm-up time for the person interviewed
– i find some questions a bit hard to answer, that’s not necessarily a problem, but something to consider… (since there is the possibility then that people won’t answer at all..)
– detail, but some questions have two or more parts and are because of that a bit hard to reply to. (maybe split the question in two?)
– maybe the last question needs to be further explained? (again, it depends on what you are getting at with this..)
– i think it’s nice to try to hold the moment at the end of each reply, not rush to the next question.. when captured, those awkward silences, the in-betweens, can be very revealing, too.
